Nepal Biotechnology Association (NBA)
During the first regional conference of the Association of Plant Physiologists of SAARC countries (APPSC) on the role of Plant physiology and Biotechnology on Crop Productivity held from October 3–7, 1988 at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, the concept of creating a professional organization to unite all biotechnologists of Nepal emerged. Eminent scientists and thinkers thought that Nepal urgently needed a venue for biotechnology at the meeting. Thus, on October 7, 1988, Nepal Biotechnology Association (NBA), a scientific organization, was founded.
NBA was established as a professional NGO in July 1992 and registered as such with the Nepalese government (at the time, the HMG, Nepal) under the society legislation.
The business is a nonprofit association of professionals.
Annapurna Research Center (ARC)
The Annapurna Research Center (ARC) is a part of the Annapurna Neurological Institute & Allied Sciences that was founded in 2011 and is non-governmental, non-political, non-profit, and service-oriented (ANIAS). The foundation of the ARC gave a collection of academics, scientists, researchers, and members of the academic community permission to collaborate on research and molecular diagnostics.
Central Department of Biotechnology, TU (CDBTU)
Tribhuvan University (TU) founded the Central Department of Biotechnology in 2008, started the M.Sc. program in 2009, the Ph.D. program in 2011, and the Postdoc program in 2017. The expansion of research facilities began in 2017 in anticipation of ground-breaking work in several biotechnology sectors. When the government needed qualified people resources for the diagnosis of Covid-19 and circulating SARS CoV-2 variant testing utilizing Next Generation Sequencer during the horrific pandemic covid scenario, CDBT-TU and its graduates helped the country as intended.
